Coolum State High School

Classrooms in time for the new school year

Faced with a short-term need for new classrooms, but without an easily accessible site, Coolum State High School needed to find a provider who could provide great quality buildings but who also had installation expertise enough to cope with the constraints of placed upon them.

The space Coolum State High School had available afforded trick access to say the least. The buildings needed to be lifted over covered pathways, placed in between existing buildings on site with reasonably tight clearances on the sides.

In addition to placing the buildings on site, Ausco’s team were charged with overall site design, gaining relevant building approvals, connection of services to the building including data, power and storm water, as well as construction of ramps, stairs and concrete pathways as necessary to provide access to the building.

Ausco’s team are well versed working as principal contractors on site and were able to handle these tasks with aplomb.

While it’s always tricky working on a site that’s operational, the majority of the on site works were completed during the end of year holidays, over a period of a little over 2 weeks. Handover was completed on 25th January, right on time for the start of the 2019 school year.
