Double-storey factory-built home set to revolutionise housing sector
Australia’s most land-efficient factory-built home has been unveiled today by Ausco Modular.
The double-storey architect-designed home is part of Ausco Modular’s new range of two, three and four bedroom homes, which is set to revolutionise housing options for the resources industry, government and land developers.
Ausco Modular’s Managing Director Paul Bailey said the new double-storey home fills a large gap in the off-site construction housing market.
“Unlike other factory-built single-storey homes, the double-storey design allows for the absolute optimum use of land, which delivers significant cost and sustainability efficiencies.”
Mr Bailey predicted the new range would appeal to Ausco Modular’s traditional clients in the mining and resources sector, and to government departments needing fast, affordable and high quality housing for employees and their families in remote areas.
He also said the homes would be ideal for land developers who want to provide access to the property market for first-home owners and young families confronted by the housing affordability crisis.
The double-storey home includes all the energy-conservation features of a conventional home and like all Ausco Modular products it is built to comply with cyclonic building codes and is designed in the company’s nationally NATA accredited test laboratory.
Ausco Modular is already well established in the housing and accommodation market, providing a range of quality staff accommodation for the mining and resources sector, and eco-homes and park cabins to the tourism industry. Ausco Modular has built on this expertise in developing the new range.
“For many years, Ausco Modular’s industry-leading accommodation buildings have been made available to the mining, resources and construction sectors, and to government employees in remote parts of Australia,” Mr Bailey said.
“Ausco Modular has developed a reputation for producing high-quality, affordable buildings for industry, with a proven success rate at delivering large-scale projects in short time frames.”
“Now, with the double-storey home and its accompanying range, Ausco Modular is ready to share that expertise with a new generation of Australians.”
The range features new, custom-designed interiors and prestige fittings in the kitchen, bathroom and en suite, while the factory construction process results in higher and more consistent build quality than on-site construction.
“Because the homes are designed and built to be moved, they are by their nature much stronger and more durable than conventional homes,” Mr Bailey said.
“Building the homes in a factory and transporting them to the site also allows us to reduce waste and environmental impacts, and avoid delays due to bad weather.”
The homes can be built and handed over in a matter of weeks compared to on-site construction, which can take more than three months.
“The range will give clients access to high-quality new homes in vastly reduced timescales compared to conventional building processes.
“The rapid turnaround times associated with off-site construction mean that clients and families alike will wait just weeks, rather than months, to get the keys to their dream home.”
Ausco Modular is currently manufacturing the range in its Brisbane and Perth facilities, with future manufacturing expansion plans in its other facilities.
