School fire leads to exceptional display of comradery
A key advantage of modular buildings is their ability to be redeployed as and where your need is greatest. This situation presented itself at Broome Primary School in Western Australia’s Kimberley region.
After a recent arson attack to Broome Primary School, an urgent call was made by the local Sales Manager to the Department of Education offering our assistance. After numerous discussions and negotiations, Ausco secured the long term hire of 3 double classrooms.
Despite these classrooms still mobilised at another school, the operations team were required to remove the buildings from the current site, clean and transport all floors over 2500kms from Perth to Broome. Local teams personally flew to Broome to supervise the installation, recognising the urgency to complete works in a timely manner.
The complete handover inclusive of gaining relevant building approvals, connection of power and services was all completed over a tight 2-week timeline, right on plan.
The result of this hard work resulted in minimal disruption to the students returning for the start of their 2020 school year.
This was a great result for both Ausco and Broome Primary School, and after recent meetings with the community we have nothing but positives to report back. The Department of Education have been extremely pleased with the buildings and the all-round Ausco experience.
The close collaboration between Ausco Modular, the Department of Education, architects, engineers, subcontractors and local transport companies was a key element in the completion and success of this project.
