Centre for National Resilience

Ausco helps deliver the first Centre for National Resilience in Victoria

Ausco Modular is proud to have been part of delivering the first Centre for National Resilience (CNR) in Victoria. Ausco’s involvement included manufacturing accommodation units for the Melbourne and Perth CNR facilities as part of the government’s response to COVID-19. Working with Multiplex, the managing contractor for the project, the specialised accommodation units were manufactured at our Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth facilities.

The comfort, mental health and wellbeing of guests was a priority for this project, making Ausco’s modular buildings an ideal solution, as the self-contained units provide guests with access to natural light, fresh air, a balcony, and non-communal amenities like a kitchenette. The accommodation will also be available to respond to future health crises, national disasters or humanitarian efforts.

Modular construction was chosen for this project due to the need for a quick turnaround, as most of the work is completed offsite, meaning quicker build times, better quality-control, less waste, and less impact on the environment. Ausco’s ability to rapidly respond to a critical need for purpose-built accommodation units is further evidence in the case for preferencing Modern Methods of Construction like Design for Manufacture and Assembly as a solution in disaster response efforts.

Ausco is proud to have been involved in a vital project that will help to bolster the country’s disaster resilience capabilities into the future. For such a huge project, this was completed in a very tight timeframe of just 7 months; a testament to all involved and to what can be completed with modular construction.
