Laidley State High School

Ausco comes to the rescue following an arson attack

After being targeted by an arsonist on November 25th, Laidley State High School, in conjunction with Queensland’s Department of Education needed to act quickly to ensure that students would be able to resume classes as normal in the next school year.

Faced with a significant time challenge, the Department, Laidley State High and Ausco worked together to find a solution that could be delivered quickly and would give Laidley State High School’s students the best possible facilities to begin the 2019 school year with.

Just two days after the arsonist struck the school, representatives from Ausco were on site, initiating the project and gathering the information required to make this project a success.

In total, 3 classrooms needed to be installed, each with stainless steel benchtops completed with gas turrets to facilitate learning in the sciences.

Ausco was able to complete the works over the Christmas/New Year holidays, with site works commencing on 18 December and handover of the new buildings completed on 25 January.

As principal contractor on the job, Ausco was responsible for gaining building approval, completing designs, connecting services to the building (including gas, water, data and power), installing new laboratory equipment and completing ancillary site works including access ramps and concrete paths around the buildings.
