Fraser Coast Sports & Recreation Precinct

Football and netball facilities for growing sporting clubs

The Fraser Coast Sports and Recreation Precinct in Hervey Bay is a multi-stage development spread over more than 60 hectares. The precinct will provide a home for local clubs participating in diverse sporting codes including football (soccer), netball, AFL and rugby league.

In late 2018, the Fraser Coast Regional Council engaged Ausco Modular to design and manufacture football and netball clubhouses within stage 1 of the $48 million master planned development.

Within 20 weeks from contract signing to handover, Ausco Modular had manufactured, transported and installed a 44x14m football clubhouse for the Football Queensland Wide Bay Buccaneers and a 31x16m facility for Hervey Bay Netball Association.

Both facilities, manufactured locally in Ausco’s Brisbane factory, include multiple unisex compliant changeroom facilities with cubicle showers for player privacy, public amenities, meeting rooms, storage areas, umpire and first aid rooms, a kiosk and spacious deck areas for pedestrian access and spectator viewing.

Important features of the facilities stipulated by the Council were the use of natural lighting and ventilation where possible which Ausco’s in-house design team were able to incorporate via a collaborative design process.

The new precinct and facilities will also increase the capacity for the Fraser Coast to host regional, state and national sporting competitions and carnivals in the growing region.

“It’s really important for us that we focus in on regional Queensland, we’ve go so many players that are based here”, said Football Queensland’s General Manager Brendon Boss.

“The Buccaneers do a fantastic job and to be honest with you, with this new Ausco build they’ll have one of the best facilities going around.”

Ausco Modular has collaborated with major sporting codes such as Football Queensland to deliver high-specification changeroom facilities for sporting clubs across Australia.

“Ausco helped me by delivering a superior product to budget and on-time. Their modular format and in-house design team was instrumental in the delivery process allowing Fraser Coast Regional Council to achieve its delivery objectives.”
