Miles Hospital Accommodation

Successful Queensland Health pilot project hoped to be replicated

Ausco Modular’s building solutions have continued to prove popular among healthcare providers with the latest build at Miles Hospital no exception.

Miles hospital, located in the Western Downs region of Queensland, encountered difficulty finding accommodation for nursing staff that was in close proximity to the hospital to enable immediate response times when on call.

To combat this, Ausco designed and constructed four, two-bedroom module blocks that provide comfortable, well equipped and good looking accommodation for the staff. The build took just eight weeks, encountered little disruption to existing buildings and met all Queensland Health building guidelines.

The latest addition to the Miles Hospital grounds provides a solution to the hospital’s needs, offering comfortable and readily accessible housing for the local nursing and medical staff within a secure gated compound.

This accommodation building was a pilot project for Queensland Health with hopes to roll out the concept across further regional hospitals to ensure staff are more accessible at a moment’s notice in emergency situations.

Ausco worked with PDT Architects and local tradespeople to ensure the modules were in line with the existing buildings on the hospital grounds and met the requirements outlined by Queensland Health.

Ausco Modular Project Manager, Laif Jones, said the rapid construction time offered by Ausco Modular allowed health providers to be fully operational faster without the usual disruptions caused by new builds.

“Time saving and efficiency is a major priority for our clients, especially in the health industry,” he said.

“As our builds are not affected by weather or environmental delays, it ensures we can confidently offer timely execution and reliable deadlines to our clients.”

Ausco’s buildings are made from quality products, are aesthetically pleasing and can be custom-made to suit all needs.
