Ausco Modular delivers homes for regional frontline workers

Ausco Modular has delivered eight modular homes for regional frontline workers, such as police officers, nurses and teachers, from its Ipswich manufacturing facility. The three and two-bedroom modular homes were commissioned by the Queensland Government as part of its response to the national housing crisis.

The first homes were completed in August 2023 and delivered to St George, Injune and Mitchell in western Queensland. The remaining homes have departed Ausco Modular’s facilities in early 2024 for Surat and will relieve the pressure on the housing supply in regional Queensland.

Rather than traditional construction, Ausco Modular’s homes are built in an enclosed manufacturing facility free from inclement weather and other site pressures that can cause delays. Modular construction is part of the modern methods of construction, which is a technique distinguished by a significant reduction in construction waste, faster delivery and limited time onsite.

“Modular construction is an ideal solution for applications such as the Government’s housing strategy. At Ausco Modular, we can rapidly deploy very high-quality homes, and other spaces, when there is a consistent design by setting up a production line not unlike other manufacturing industries,” offered Ausco Modular’s managing director, George Petrohilos.

Ausco Modular, which has operated for over 60 years in Australia, has traditionally supported the Queensland Government with modular buildings for regional health centres, schools across the state and community sporting facilities. This is the first housing alliance between the company and the State.
