Ausco Modular awarded Government contract to deliver temporary housing to fire-affected Mallacoota residents
Ausco delivered an early Christmas present to residents of Mallacoota, who were left devastated by the 2019-20 Victorian bushfires. Bushfire Recovery Victoria engaged Ausco Modular to construct the facilities at pace, to meet the government’s urgent need to provide short-term accommodation to the local Mallacoota community. The housing is delivered to a property or another location as agreed by authorities and residents will be able to live in these homes for a period of up to 3 years while they rebuild. The modular homes available are one, two, and three-bedroom, ranging from 30 to 50 square metres.
Project Manager, Leigh Sciberras commented:
“The experience gained through working with the Victorian Government has been invaluable and a major factor in us being appointed to deliver these facilities. Our ability to deliver at speed and provide a custom building solution that meets the highest of safety standards was also paramount. Additionally, despite the delays, we still achieved our promise: all homes in place in time for Christmas.”
Hon Lisa Neville MP Minister for Police and Emergency Services said:
“I am writing to thank you and your team for your ongoing contribution the Short-term Modular Housing Program that is being delivered by Bushfire Recovery Victoria following the devastating Eastern Victorian bushfires of last summer.
Your team’s hard work, dedication and the collaborative approach being taken has contributed to a successful program being delivered to fire affected communities, despite challenging circumstances. The program is directly assisting individuals and families who lost their homes in the fires to stay connected to their properties and their communities while they rebuild.
Thank you again for your role in supporting Victorian communities to recover and rebuild.”
