What Is Modern Modular Construction?

Modular construction has come a long way since its humble beginnings producing temporary buildings or facilities used whilst something more permanent was built. Today, modern modular look as good as traditional builds with a long list of extra advantages.

As an industry leader with 60 years of experience, Ausco Modular has seen the industry transform and adapt to suit the needs of Australia’s changing industries and unique landscapes.

Various business, industry, and service sectors now rely on modular buildings to meet their growing needs and can be assured they will be delivered on time, on budget, and with less disruption to the site and surrounding community.

Sustainability

Using lean manufacturing processes in controlled environments means modular construction can dramatically reduce the environmental impacts that are often associated with traditional construction.

Due to the building’s functionality and adaptability, a modular building can simply be demobilised to be recycled, repurposed, or relocated instead of being demolished or abandoned.

Modular Benefits

Built offsite in a controlled factory environment, modular buildings can be built in half the time of a traditional build.

A recent example was a unisex compliant changeroom project completed for an AFL Queensland grassroots club, the Victoria Point Sharks Football Club.

In just only 18 weeks, Ausco had manufactured and installed on-site the new facility which includes two 45m2 changerooms with a sound-rated operable wall to maximise the use of the space and amenities which feature cubicle shower facilities for player privacy.

The speed in which modular construction occurs was also of benefit to the club as it meant that the new facilities would be ready to use in time for the next football season.

“The minimal time on site has been extremely convenient with only a short break between seasons.” said Tyler Hayes, Junior Football Operations Officer.

Temporary vs Permanent

Ausco Modular offers a large range of modular buildings for sale, as well as short- and long-term hires. All modular buildings are built to serve specific needs and because of their adaptable foot settings, can be repurposed and repositioned several times during their lifespan.

Modular is a great addition to most spaces at short notice. In fact, several industries are beginning to rely on the benefits modular provides including health and aged care, education and early learning centres, and sports and recreation.

Permanent modular buildings offer the benefits of a fast and efficient turnaround and specialist engineering ensures the building will be solid for years to come. Assembled on the final site, the structure is guaranteed to be strong and is often mistaken for a traditional build.

Industries are increasingly utilising modular buildings for their reliability, assurance and cost-effective benefits.
